The third AI Act Market Surveillance Workshop took place in Vienna, Austria, hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure. Designed to support the practical implementation of the AI Act, the event brought together national and European authorities for hands-on discussions on AI system evaluation, performance metrics, bias and fairness, and the role of Union Testing Facilities. Building on earlier workshops, the session advanced the NoLeFa project’s goal of strengthening coordinated, effective AI market surveillance across Europe.

NoLeFa took part in the AI NoEs Horizons | Q&A Session on AI Policy and Standards, organised by dAIEDGE, with EUSAiR, ELSA and ENFIELD. The session brought together various projects to exchange lessons learned and discuss challenges in translating AI policy and standards into practice under Horizon Europe.

Representing the project, NoLeFa Project Coordinator Laurent Romary shared insights from the project’s work on strengthening AI governance and supporting effective implementation across Europe.

The second AI Act Market Surveillance Workshop took place from 17–19 June 2025 in A Coruña, Spain. Organised to support the implementation of the AI Act, the closed event brought together national and EU authorities to discuss enforcement practices, the use of harmonised standards, and the future role of Union Testing Facilities. The workshop built on the first edition held in January and supports the NoLeFa project’s mission to help lay the groundwork for effective, coordinated AI market surveillance across the EU.

On May 14, 2025, Jérôme-Alexis Chevalier (LNE) spoke at the AI Testbeds session at RAPS Euro Convergence 2025 in Brussels. He presented work from the NoLeFa project, which is piloting the Union AI Testing Support Structures under Article 84 of the EU AI Act—designed to support regulatory oversight of AI-enabled medical devices.

While the NoLeFa project officially started on November 1, 2024, the journey began with an inspiring kick-off meeting in Paris on November 27, where key stakeholders came together to shape the future of EU AI compliance and innovation.

Highlights of the meeting were keynote speakers from the French Digital Program Agency, CEN-CENELEC JTC 21, and Inria’s Directorate; and deep-dive sessions including an Overview of the AI Act and the NoLeFa Roadmap.

The Market Surveillance Workshop for the AI Act, held on 28 and 29 January 2025 in Brussels, Belgium, brought together representatives from across EU Member States to exchange experiences and build partnerships to further strengthen the foundations already being established for effective AI Act market surveillance.
